I'd really prefer snow days.

I'm not sure how much you guys have heard about the fires in Southern California ... things are improving slightly down here, although they're evacuating more people every time I turn on the news. Check this out:

This sounds trite: Jeez, I hope you're okay. And Bill too. Both of you.
I read an article by the AP that focused so much on Malibu and all the displaced celebrities, and it really upset me, because I just kept thinking, "Man, they can buy another home. Or another Malibu, even." And, you know, there are people who can't.

I'm okay for the moment; haven't spoken with Bill. CNN has good articles, as does signonsandiego.com if you want to get up-to-the-minute news (although you won't be familiar with any of the neighborhoods, so it might be a bit confusing). They have a good map that shows you what we're dealing with, though. I live in the southeast portion of the county.

Will elaborate more when I know how things are going to turn out.

gahh I'm so sorry Abigail. Snow days would be better. Come to the northeast. On the plus side, as the article said, Emily's dad is visiting you. You can have a mini tasp reunion, sort of.

Abigail, I'm so glad you're okay. As soon as I heard about those fires, I thought about you and Bill. Please take care, and wear the HAT. It'll be like I'm there with you...on your head...
Sorry, that was lame.

Thanks to all of you guys; I got back into my house exactly four minutes ago and overjoyed - things are still smoky and ashy down here, but I think they're going to be okay.

And yes, Alina, the first thing I did when I got the evacuation notice was put on the HAT. No kidding.
